How to identify the correct mining equipment part

A practical identification checklist for heavy mining equipment replacement-part enquiries.

PRACTICAL CHECKLIST

How can a buyer identify the correct replacement part for a mining machine?

  1. Record the part name and every visible number.
  2. Photograph the machine and component nameplates.
  3. Confirm the full model and machine serial number.
  4. Photograph mounting points, ports and connectors.
  5. Add dimensions only where they can be measured reliably.
  6. Ask the supplier to confirm the matched item in writing before order.

Important: A matching appearance or model name alone does not establish fitment.

SAMPLE APPROVAL & SUPPORTING EVIDENCE

What evidence is needed before approving a replacement mining part?

Match the part number to the machine make, model and serial, then compare markings, interfaces and dimensions. Record the requested condition and any proposed alternative. A reference number or photograph alone is not written fitment confirmation.

What to request from the supplier

Request item-specific compatibility confirmation, condition information and the inspection records required for the enquiry. Resolve unclear references before approving a replacement.
