PRODUCT SCOPE

Choose a fastener for your sourcing enquiry

Choose the family on your drawing or specification. Each enquiry link opens a tailored brief; leave unknown fields marked “to be confirmed”.

These are enquiry categories, not stock or certification claims. A matching name or photograph does not establish material, grade, dimensions or suitability. Confirm the specification before accepting a quotation.

REQUEST FOR QUOTATION

Information that makes a quotation comparable

  • Product type, standard number or a dimensioned drawing.
  • Material, property class or grade, thread diameter and pitch.
  • Length, tolerances, surface finish and corrosion requirement.
  • Quantity for each size, packaging preference and destination.
  • Required inspection scope, test reports or destination-market documents.

Availability, minimum order quantity, samples, certifications, lead time, payment and shipping terms must be confirmed for the selected product, supplier and order.

BEFORE YOU COMPARE PRICES

Give every size its own specification.

Use one enquiry line for each size and finish. Start with the information you have, and mark gaps as “to be confirmed”. Ask suppliers to identify deviations rather than silently substitute a different specification.

Standard or drawing
Provide the standard reference and edition if specified, or a drawing number and revision. State the product type and head style. List proposed alternatives separately for review.
Dimensions and thread
State the units, diameter, pitch, length and required thread length. Include relevant tolerances and a dimensioned drawing where the description leaves room for interpretation.
Material and grade
Record the required material designation and property class or grade as separate fields where applicable. Ask the supplier to identify any missing requirement before quoting.
Finish and evidence
Name the requested surface treatment and its specification. If testing or documents are required, identify the method, acceptance criteria and the batch or item the evidence should cover.
Quantity and packing
Give quantity and pricing unit for each line. Specify whether matching nuts or washers are included, plus any bag, carton, marking or label requirements.

Compare the complete offer, not just the unit price

  • Check that both offers cover the same specification, quantities, accessories and inspection scope.
  • Align currency and pricing unit: per piece, per hundred, per thousand or by weight. Ask for the quoted weight basis where applicable.
  • Separate sampling, tooling, testing, packing and freight charges. Record the trade term and named place, and clarify duties and taxes.
  • Record quotation validity, payment terms, proposed lead time and the event that starts that lead time.

This checklist helps prepare an enquiry; it is not an engineering selection or a compliance certificate. The buyer must confirm the specification and suitability for the intended application. Product and order requirements remain subject to written confirmation.

HAVE A PHOTO, NOT A COMPLETE SPECIFICATION?

Can you start a fastener enquiry from an old-part photo?

Yes—as a starting reference. Send labelled photographs, the measurements you have, intended use, quantity and destination. Leave unknown specifications open for clarification. A photograph is not enough to approve material, property class, thread tolerance, finish or suitability.

  1. Give the item a reference. Use one line ID per item or size, such as F01. Use the same ID in photo filenames and your enquiry. Do not combine several unidentified parts into one line.
  2. Show the relevant views. Photograph the whole item, head or drive, readable markings, thread and end. Include a scale as a visual reference; write any measured dimensions and units separately rather than asking someone to estimate them from the image.
  3. Separate known details from questions. Copy markings exactly. Attach an existing drawing or standard reference if available. Do not infer grade from colour, or assume a similar-looking thread is interchangeable.
  4. Define the commercial request. State quantity per item and destination. Ask which details need confirmation and whether a drawing or physical sample is needed before a final offer. Confirm suitability before ordering.

A clearer first message

Illustrative enquiry, not a customer case: “F01: replacement fastener for an existing assembly. Photos F01-overall and F01-head attached. Quantity: 500 pieces. Destination: Dubai, UAE. Material, grade, thread pitch and finish: to be confirmed. Please list missing information before quoting a replacement.”

This starts a clarification conversation; it is not a complete specification or a commitment that a replacement is available.

Attach images in your email or WhatsApp after preparing the brief. RootReach coordinates the enquiry; the buyer and proposed supplier must resolve specifications, evidence and suitability before approval. Guidance basis: the fastener specification checklist on this page, not a supplier technical certificate.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Fastener sourcing FAQ

What information does RootReach need to source fasteners?

Send the product type, standard number or dimensioned drawing, material or property class, thread size, length, surface finish, quantity, packaging requirement and destination. Add the required inspection scope or documents when applicable.

Does a product description confirm availability or certification?

No. Availability, minimum order quantity, samples, certifications, lead time and commercial terms are confirmed for the selected product, supplier and order before a quotation is accepted.

Can I request a quote using a photo of an existing fastener?

Yes, as an initial reference. Include dimensions, visible markings, the intended use and any available drawing or standard. Mark unknown requirements as to be confirmed. A photograph alone does not verify material, property class, thread tolerance or coating specification; these must be resolved before order approval.

How should alternative fastener specifications be quoted?

Ask the supplier to quote the requested specification first and list any alternative separately, with its standard or drawing, material, property class, dimensions and finish. Do not treat an alternative as approved until the buyer has reviewed the differences and confirmed acceptance in writing.

Which photos should I send when the fastener specification is unknown?

Send separate, clearly labelled views of the whole item, its head or drive, readable markings, thread and end. Include available measurements with units and label the images with the enquiry line number. Add intended use, quantity and destination. Keep unknown material, grade, thread and finish requirements open for clarification; photos are a starting reference, not approval of a replacement.

Send your fastener requirement

Contact Yang Aoxin (杨奥鑫). Attach a drawing or standard reference whenever possible. The email link opens a fill-in RFQ; leave unknown fields blank for confirmation.

SAMPLE APPROVAL & SUPPORTING EVIDENCE

What should a fastener sample approval cover?

Identify the standard or drawing revision, dimensions, thread, material and grade, and finish. Record the sample reference and agreed inspection criteria. Keep proposed equivalents separate until the buyer approves them.

What to request from the supplier

Request dimensional inspection results and the material or finish documents required by your brief. Check that their references match the proposed item and agreed order scope.

Buyer guidance from RootReach. This is not a supplier test result, certification or a guarantee of suitability. Confirm the evidence and acceptance criteria for the individual item.
