Motorcycle parts: quotation checklist

Prepare a complete motorcycle parts sourcing brief, identify missing information and download an RFQ template.

SPECIFICATION FIRST

What information is needed for a motorcycle parts quotation?

Vehicle identity
Make, full model, model year, variant and other relevant identification details.
Part identity
Part number, name, visible markings and clear old-part photographs.
Interface and material
Mounting dimensions, drawing revision, material requirements and buyer-defined acceptance checks.
Order scope
Quantity per line, condition requested, packaging, destination and required documents.

The categories describe buyer enquiry scopes, not a verified supplier catalogue or available stock. Exact models, technical evidence, origin, condition, compatibility and commercial terms require item-level confirmation.

CONTROL THE OPEN QUESTIONS

Prepare the brief before asking for a final price

  1. Use one line per product or configuration. Give photographs, drawings and samples matching line IDs and revisions.
  2. Separate agreed requirements from missing information. Ask the supplier to identify substitutions explicitly.
  3. Use the motorcycle parts checklist above to define the sample and acceptance scope. Do not supply guessed specifications.
  4. State the destination and named delivery place. Record the proposed trade term, payment terms, quotation validity and lead-time starting condition.
  5. Resolve technical and commercial deviations in writing before approving a sample or purchase order.

Illustrative review — not an actual supplier quotation

Match the vehicle variant, reference number and interface dimensions. If Offer A matches the brief but Offer B proposes a different configuration, first label the difference. Request a revised or clearly separate alternative offer; neither a cheaper unit price nor a similar image resolves that discrepancy.

SAMPLE APPROVAL & SUPPORTING EVIDENCE

What should buyers confirm before approving motorcycle replacement parts?

Provide vehicle make, model, year and variant, plus part numbers and readable markings. Compare mounting dimensions and, where relevant, connectors and electrical configuration. Similar appearance does not establish compatibility.

What to request from the supplier

Obtain item-specific written fitment information and agree the sample approval process. Keep unresolved vehicle variants and proposed substitutions visible in the parts list.
